Ear itching still on

I am wondering if ear itching is part of hearing impaired children or it is just with Prisha. She has been scratching her ear regularly at least once a day.By night yesterday, she was scratching her ears with her fingers stuffed into her ears.My husband tells me that the itch may have always been there , but it is just that she is now able to express it in language.I have put mullien oil in her ears at night which is a homeopathic remedy for otitus media, ear itch and pain and is is to be put in ears so long as the ear drum is not perforated. Her ears are very clean. i had been to the pediatrician as she was again down with fever for 5 days, had very painful boils on the scalp and the face .i got her blood test done along with the urine test to make sure the WBC is all right.2 months back she had a huge infection [ UTI] and the WBC was too high. To play safe I got it done earlier to rule out more complications.Fortunately a few things are a little above border line and can be rectified. The fever too has finally subsided after 5 days .She is looking so pale with those constant illness in some form or the other. With the change in the new medicine the boils are bursting and I am hoping they just leave Prisha alone now.She is on vitamins last 2 months and am giving her more water to drink [ which she detests].When I wash her sores on the scalp with warm salted water , I hate her cries of pain.I am still so scared to put her left hearing aid. She has suffered a lot of loss in school too, due to her various problems.I hope she resumes school this week.

  1. Have you had her chkd for allergies? Also, somethings that are heaty may be removed from her diet to help the boils subside.

Dahi might help. Also sabja seeds ( used in falooda or rose syrup ) are cooling. You could ask an ayurvedic expert before you try it. Maybe you could keep jaggery, sugar and heaty daals out of her diet.

  2. I had her blood test done- CBC and urine which did not show much problem.I still am left figuring out as to what I should do.The pediatrician has told me that the immunity would come as she grows older but that is still so far off.Pune being cold, cooling things make her catch a cold much faster. Thanks for the suggestions.I give her multi vits and vit C each day.

  3. Has the child's audiologist and/or ENT made any suggestions to hypo allergenic ear molds? They do exist. Also, from what I read briefly from your posts, I understand you use homeopathic remedies. Although this product is NOT homeopathic, may I suggest you visit www.miracell.com I have family members who had very ithcy years, and this product (a bit pricey) brought them relief. Ask your audiologist, ent, (sometimes they carry free samples) or your child's pediatrician for more information.

  4. I did ask at Mandke clinic and he said the soft molds that we have are safe and do not cause allergy.Have you seen anybody use the product before?I will look into this product and see if it is available around and can use on her.I think she has been a very sensitive kid and am hoping soon all this would go away. The antibiotics too help only for the moment. I had been to the skin specialist and he asked me to give her antibiotics as and when they appear. Thanks a lot for your kind suggestions.

  5. My goodness- the boils are still causing troubles? I keep hoping they will just go away and not cause Prisha any more trouble! Has her immune system been tested to make sure it is complete? I will keep her in my thoughts- I hope she gets better soon!

Also, I do know that sometimes earmolds can cause itchiness- even if there is no allergy. Sometimes I think moisture gets trapped and the ears don't get to "air out" as much. Have they checked for a fungal infection?

I know cranberry juice is very good for the bladder and killing off bacteria in general, but I don't know if you can get cranberry juice in India.

  6. Thanks Leah, I just need a break for now. Its been 9 months of constant struggle to keep myself pepped up and going. I have met skin specialist, allopaths, homeopaths, ent and every kind of specialist , but each time has been different problem. I hope this year end brings happiness.I blow dry her ears and as of now apart from itching in ear, her ears are ok.Cranberry juice is not realy available here.I really need good wishes and prayers for her health. Thanks for your kind thoughts.

  7. The ears are very sensitive. I have some family members who have no known allergies, but when it came to earmolds, they experienced an allergic reaction.(itchy ears) The material used in earmolds are man made. Now when they go to have new earmolds made, the hypo-allergenic material box is checked off on the order form. They also have used the miracell. From what I understand from your original post, you are still scared to put in her left hearing aid. Are her ears itchy all the time, even without wearing the hearing aid? Do you notice that her ears itch more when she wears the hearing aid? Best wishes and good luck to you and your family.

  8. thanks so much for your concern. I am trying to find out about miracell from my chemist. Its still not too known in India. She has the pain in her left ear which she has got used to a bit of pain and is scared to tell me about it as she is scared i would take her to a doc.The mould has not been put for now 7 months if not more. I think the infection takes long to go from ears as there is not much place for fresh air to circulate.i checked with the audiologist and there is a standard material which is non allergic. Her ears are itchy on and off. Right now the boils on her scalp are bothering her.I do take off her mould on the right ear when she complains for about 5 mins to give some fresh air.I blow them dry with a dryer.I have had a difficult year as far as her health is concerned. Thanks for your kind wishes, I really need them.
