Glands behind the ear
I am a bit worried as now Prisha has these glands behind her right ear which have started to pain. She has such nodules behind the ear and the scalp on the lower end since birth and I could feel them while feeding her. I asked a few doctors about it but they all said they are sweat glands and would go away. Month ago she had boils on her scalp above her right ear which pained her a lot. Thankfully they are now scabs and are slowly dying. She is now down since 10 days with very bad bout of cold and cough and 2 days back she complained of pain in the 2 glands behind the ear. Any suggestions? I wonder if anybody has had issues like this and may need attention. I hope it is not related to her hearing impairment.I am at a loss about it. I did surf the net and would consult a specialist, but any input would be really appreciated.

Oh, poor Prisha! Not again! It looks like a swollen occipital lymph node??
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the specialist would say? I hope that sweet girl gets better soon.
What is occipital lymph node? I hope it is nothing to worry about.I really wish too that the kids should be always in good health. Thanks for ur wishes.
ReplyDeleteFirst, I'm sorry about the swollen glands. I'd definitely get a medical opinion on it.
ReplyDeleteSecond, a person on cicircle (for families of CI users) just posted an announcement of a conference in India. He says that his son's speech therapist (Dr. MaryKay Therres, a certified AVT) will be there. I think she mainly works with CI kids, but I'm sure she has many interesting things to say about speech therapy in general. Here's the conference website: http://www.cigicon. org/ I don't know how close that is to you or whether you can get there, but I thought I'd mention it.
Rouchi, the lymph nodes are just part of the immune system. They can get really swollen when there is an infection in the body- they hold white blood cells, etc. to fight off infection.
ReplyDeleteThanks Leah and Julia, you guys are always so helpful and it really boosts my morale.I spoke to my doctor and he wanted to give me anti biotic but I think my homeopath is giving her medication and they seem to become less painful today. She had lots of boils on the scalp on the top of the right ear and the fluid has drained there and has got infected. The boils are scabs but she has lost hair in the area.I am hoping to see some improvement in her health this week. Hey Leah , how is Nolan doing with food?
ReplyDeletei have had the same since i was born...am 22 yrs now my mum always worried toke me to so many doctors...she wanted them out but we never took them out...when i was young they hurt alot...not anymore now.so dont think you need to worry
ReplyDeleteis there a chance you can send me a pic of your gland , my husbands has been there for years but now it is really enlarged still not sore though ?? What type of doctor would i see to remove it my general GP just blows us off, but I really would like it removed as it is now protruding past his ear . Thanks
DeleteThese glands have got reduced now. When inflamed they looked like in the picture. Speak to your ENT specialist.
